John'nell "Johnnie" (Sykes) Wright

John’nell “Johnnie” Sykes Wright (71) gained her wings March 10, 2022. She was born in Dekalb, Texas October 15, 1950, to George and Lucinda Sykes. Johnnie was the 9th child of 12 children. Johnnie attended Marvin Pines High School in Dekalb, TX. She was a member of Saint Paul Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ at an early age. She was also a faithful member and worker at Macedonia Syloam Baptist Church of Clarksville, TX, until her health declined. Johnnie loved to cook, her specialty was chicken and dressing. She loved family time and also clowning with her friends and family.

On February 23, 2002, she married her best friend and husband Charlie Wright, and was married for 20 years. Johnnie was proceeded in death by her mother and father, George and Lucinda Sykes, her sister, Mamie Paul, brothers, George Jr. Sykes, Lawrence Sykes, Luther Sykes, Jimmy Sykes, and Roy Sykes.

Johnnie leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Charlie Wright, daughters, Keithisha Wright (Charles), Shirley Tavie, (Charles), Kowanna Battle (Kelvin) and Charmanique White. Three sisters, Anna White, Dekalb TX, Mattre Gray, New Boston, and Evelyn Cooper (Kenneth). Two Brothers, David Sykes, Austin, TX and James Sykes, Mesquite, TX. 12 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, and nephews.

Johnnie's service will be Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Zion Traveler Baptist Church @ 11:00a.m. Under the direction of Brownrigg Funeral Home. Interment will be at Hebron Cemetery Clarksville, Texas.
