Josie Ree Reed

Josie Ree Reed (98), was born December 8, 1923 to Surrena (Titus) Smith and Alex Smith. She is the 8th child out of eleven which all preceded her in death. Josie became a Christian at age 12, through the prayers of her mother and Mrs. Lula Jones. Josie Reed, the Mother of the church has been a faithful member of the Antioch Baptist Church serving in many capacities including deaconess, vice president of the Mission and a member of the food committee. Josie through her love for Christ has served as a caregiver to many in the community. Josie Reed answered her “Lord and Saviors” call on February 18, 2022 surrounded by loved ones and her devoted caretakers.

Josie was united in marriage to Early Dan Reed Sr. who preceded her in death. She had 8 children in which 6 are living and two of her darling angels has gone to be with the Lord, Deloris Reed (Daughter) and Baby Reed (Son). She leaves to cherish her love for Christ and many memories to her beloved daughters: Virginia Rush, (Portland, Oregon), Carol (Edwardo) Nelson (Paris, TX), and her beloved sons, Norvell (Kathy) Reed, Early Dan Jr. (Josephine) Reed, Gary (Lawonda) Reed, and Calvin Reed all of Clarksville, Texas. Josie Reed’s special daughters and sons include: Marsha Reed, Louise Blockson, Billye Rae Perry, and both Otis Rush and Willie Tremble (deceased).

Josie Reed’s goddaughters include, Dollie Ann Lewis, Sanja Adams, and godson Johnathan McKenzie. Josie Reed’s life legacy continues to live on through her (20) grandchildren, (33) great grandchildren, and (12) great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and a village of loved ones.

Josie’s services will be Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Antioch Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Under the direction of Brownrigg Funeral Home. Interment will be at Reed Cemetery, Clarksville Texas.
